Mancini buoyed by Man City spirit

Roberto Mancini is aware his Manchester City side needs to improve but is delighted that they are at least playing with spirit.

The reigning Premier League champions came from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium today to temporarily move into second spot on the table and although it was at times a sloppy performance, Mancini was thrilled with the fight and character of his players.

"Tottenham are a strong team that are very dangerous away," he told Sky Sport.

"The two problems are that we conceded again from a set-piece and the other problems is (Gael) Clichy with his back. Apart from that we were fantastic.

"We need to have more concentration on set-pieces. But the players were fantastic and I can see that they showed the same spirit we had last year.

"I also want to say thank you to all of our supporters because they have been very close to us for the past two weeks and I want to say thank you."
