Man Utd's Fletcher suffers home burglary while in Milan

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has had his home burgled just hours after he flew out of the country for Milan yesterday.

The gang broke into £50,000-a-week Fletcher's upmarket home around 9pm as he prepared for tonight's crucial Champions League match with Inter Milan, says The Sun.

They threatened a woman at the house, then raided rooms and snatched valuables. The Old Trafford star, 25, is the latest in a long line of Premier League stars burgled by gangs while away playing football.

Previous victims include Liverpool stars Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, Pepe Reina, Daniel Agger and Peter Crouch, who has since left the club.

Fletcher lives at the house with girlfriend Hayley Grice and their twin boys.

It is not yet known if the woman threatened was Hayley or if weapons were used.

There were no reports of injuries in the raid on the home in Bowdon, Greater Manchester.
