Man Utd's Evra went looking for Liverpool's Suarez at halftime
Police were forced to get involved at halftime of Manchester United’s bitter 2-1 win over Liverpool last night.
The Mail on Sunday says police had to separate players from both Manchester United and Liverpool as emotions spilled over into violence in the tunnel at Old Trafford.
And after a few more distractions - namely Suarez booting the ball direct at the dugout on the stroke of half-time - tempers boiled over as the two sides made their way back to the dressing room.
It was reported that Evra was intent of speaking with Suarez over the handshake snub, but found his path to the striker blocked by Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel.
That was the cue for a melee involving several members of both teams to become embroiled in a pushing and shoving match, which took up to five minutes for police to mediate.Any hope that football might be the focus of the afternoon was dismissed even before a ball was kicked when Suarez refused the offer of Evra's hand during the traditional pre-match handshake.

HAHA Are you a mong? Check YOUR facts before you start posting comments.
The European cup IS the champions league, and viser versa, it was merely rebranded. It's like the Uefa cup, is now called the Europa League, however winners of the old title are still previous winners of the same competition. Historic winners of either competition still remain winners of said competition.
Hold on, we won the Milk cup more than you, but you might have won the Worthington Cup more...No wait, both are still the League cup. Seriously, what are you on about?! Cantona could have put someone in hospital for his actions, as the FA repeated stated in their own report "Mr Saurez is NOT a racist." How about reading something other than the Sun to get your facts?
Correction we have won the champions league twice to your 1 time . Remember it was called the European Champions cup before 1991. So we already have more champions league trophies than you. You can brag about having more european trophies though however it is unlikely you will be in europe next year. Personally I feel both suarez and evra should be fined for escalating this scandal this week when there was no need of that. Both were guilty of play acting this week. The Cantona incident happened more than 15 years back and you will find that we banned him for the rest of the season that year. Suarez,Dalglish and Ayre all apologized as well for not shaking so clearly he was not in the right. Check up your facts before you put baseless comments.
above comment
we have won the champions league more times than you ***** so what are you talking about...dreaming of europe, you twat, come back and comment when you have more champions league trophies than us.
