Man Utd winger Chong happy with first days at Werder Bremen

Manchester United winger Tahith Chong is happy with his first days at Werder Bremen.

Chong has signed with Werder on a straight season-long loan.

The midfielder hopes to go step by step, as he says, with the aim of being of value to the first team. The youngster concedes he's desperate to get a full season under his belt after not living up to his own expectations with United last term. By his own admission, Chong admits he could've done more with the chances manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave him last season.

He told Werder's website: "I love to go and dribble in one-on-one situations.

"(But) I didn't perform in the games in Manchester as I would have liked.

"The focus is now entirely on Werder Bremen and on playing a good season with the team."

Chong has a deal to 2022 with United and managed 12 first team appearances for United last season.

Now in Bremen, the attacking midfielder is rooming with new teammates Felix Agu and Jean-Manuel Mbom.

"They both speak very good English and make me laugh. It's very pleasant with both of them," he added.

Meanwhile, Holland U21 coach Erwin van de Looi is backing Tahith Chong to make a big impact at Werder Bremen.

Van de Looi believes Chong can replace Milot Rashica at Werder. Rashica is expected to be sold in the coming weeks.

"Tahith and Rashica are not exactly the same player type. But he can replace him," said Van de Looi to BILD.

"At the beginning he may need a little more time to get started, but he has everything for it."
