Manchester United are being heavily linked with Karim Benzema.

The Guardian reports that the Red Devils are poised to make a summer bid for the Real Madrid striker.

With Radamel Falcao departing Old Trafford following the end of the 2014/15 season, United have room for a top-quality goalscorer who is likely to cost them serious money.

France international Benzema, 27, would fetch a transfer fee of around £40million which Louis van Gaal is prepared to spend to land a reliable front-man.

The report suggests that goalkeeper David De Gea could somehow enter any possible deal with United pondering a player-plus-cash trade with Real in a bid to land Benzema who is also on the radar of Arsenal.
