Manchester United will automatically add one-year extensions to the contracts of Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The defensive duo are being linked with moves away from Untied if they cannot be tied down to long-term contracts.
However, United will take the step of protecting the players' value, per the Manchester Evening News.
The plan is to have them contract until the summer of 2025 at the earliest, and then negotiate new deals.
Wan-Bissaka is the more likely of the two to earn a long-term stay at United, given he is first choice when fit.
Meanwhile, Lindelof is the backup behind Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez when every defender is healthy.
