Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has been cleared of serious injury.

Welbeck injured his lower right leg in a challenge with Holland midfielder Nigel de Jong late in United's Barclays Premier League defeat at Manchester City on Monday night.

But a scan revealed Welbeck had suffered only severe bruising to the bone in his lower leg and he will be back in action after a period of rest.
