England chief Gareth Southgate says Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck can be their shock weapon in the Euros this summer.

United hotshot Welbeck, 21, has been in amazing form for the Old Trafford giants and he is on the brink of signing a new five-year deal worth around £50,000 a week.

Southgate told the Daily Star Sunday: "It is so good to see how quickly Danny has developed and United have done a super job with him.

"I know as a younger player there were concerns that physically he was a late developer, so to go into the first team and play the number of games he has - and have the impact he has had - is great."
