Man Utd starlet Norwood open to extending Scunthorpe loan

Manchester United midfielder Oliver Norwood fancies extending his time at Scunthorpe United.

Although establishing himself at United is Norwood's long-term goal, he won't be disappointed if he's loaned out again when his current deal expires on 2 January.

"You learn so much," he told United Review. "All of the young lads love going out on loan because we end up bettering ourselves during the time away."

There is a downside, of course. Norwood is yet to make his senior Reds debut and had he remained at Old Trafford this season he may have been handed an opportunity in the Carling Cup this term. But he's confident his time will come.

"The manager has always put faith in youngsters. That's not going to change. I think he'd much rather bring through a player from the youth ranks than go out and buy somebody.

"Sticking around in the Reserves this season wouldn't have done me any good. Instead, I'm experiencing life in a first-team environment, I'm playing week-in week-out... I'm really improving."
