Bayer Leverkusen are closing on a deal for Manchester United fullback Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
The Manchester Evening News says Fosu-Mensah, 23, is set to join Leverkusen, currently third in the Bundesliga, for a fee of around £1.5million after he rejected United's offer of a new contract earlier this season.
Ajax and Hertha Berlin have also pursued Fosu-Mensah, out of contract at the end of the season, and United were aware of interest from German clubs when they triggered the one-year extension in Fosu-Mensah's deal last year.
Fosu-Mensah is believed to prefer a return to former club Ajax but sources close to the player accept that is unlikely.
Despite making only three starts for United in nearly four years, Fosu-Mensah's reputation on the continent is favourable, having attained three Netherlands caps, and he started in United's first game of the season against Crystal Palace.
