Louis van Gaal suggests he may have bombarded his Manchester United players with too much information in the early stages of the season.
The Dutchman has had a tough start to life at Old Trafford with just one from six matches in all competitions which has brought about plenty of criticism from outsiders.
As the Red Devils look to get their campaign back on track against West Ham United on Saturday, van Gaal attempted to explain the reasons why his side had begun so poorly in 2014/15.
"We give (the players) a lot of information and you have to work out that information," said van Gaal.
"There shall be a moment in the season that this information is not too much. At this moment maybe it is too much for the players.
"It's very difficult because we are starting with a new team and a new relationship between players so that's why it needs time."
