Man Utd's Rooney vows to be ready for England

Wayne Rooney insists he will be ready and raring to go for England when his international ban finishes.

The Manchester United striker will miss the first two group matches of Euro2012 after receiving a red card in a qualifying match and will not be available until the June 19 clash with Ukraine.

Nevertheless, Rooney says he has got himself in a position to be fit and firing once that match comes around and has asserted that he will be ready to give everything for his country.

"I've had a nice rest and I probably needed that rest. Being back amongst the squad and training the last few days, I feel good. We have got a few weeks now until I can play so I can get a good few weeks training in and be ready for the game if needed," he told Sky Sports News HD.

"It's important that I do my training right and get the work I need out of those training sessions. I've had a long time to think about missing those first two games. It's disappointing but it's something I've dealt with. I'm just looking forward to the first game for the lads and hopefully we can get a good result out of that.

"Missing the first two games, you never know whether a new manager has got you in his plans or whether he wants players who can be involved in all of the games. It was nice to hear that straight away and get myself ready and as fit as I can be."
