Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he will start new recruit Ashley Young as a left winger.
The 26-year old joined the English champions from Aston Villa for £16million and Ferguson has indicated that he could be used as a long-term replacement for the great Ryan Giggs who has owned the left wing at the Old Trafford club for most of his career before moving more centrally.
"Ashley can play in more than one position," Ferguson told Inside United.
"He can play wide right, left, even behind the striker, so we have options there. But, initially, we'll start him as a wide left player."
