Man Utd's Ferdinand not getting carried away with win

Manchester United skipper Rio Ferdinand insists that the Champions League quarter-final tie with Chelsea is on a gilt-edge.

United traveled to London to grab a vital away goal in their 1-0 win over the Blues at Stamford Bridge tonight thanks to a 24th minute strike from Wayne Rooney.

Some might say that the Red Devils have one foot in the semi-final as they have such a good record at Old Trafford, where the return leg will be played on Tuesday, but Ferdinand knows that is not the case.

"It's in the balance," he told ITV1. "It was a good result but we need to go to Old Trafford, defend well, stay on our feet and if we don't concede we go through."

There were calls for a late penalty when Patrice Evra brought down Ramires in the area in injury time but Ferdinand indicated that perhaps it was about time a decision against Chelsea went the way of his side.

"Maybe it was a penalty, maybe it wasn't," he added.

"But it evens itself out over the course of a season. I don't think it was a penalty, maybe it should have been but they have ridden their luck here over the years so it was time we had some."
