Man Utd's Ferdinand to hold crucial talks with Capello

Axed England captain Rio Ferdinand is reportedly set to hold crunch talks with national team manager Fabio Capello.

The Manchester United centre-half is expected to lose his captaincy to former skipper John Terry after Capello informed media that 'a year was enough for a mistake.'

The Italian of course was talking about Terry's fling with old teammate Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend which lost him the captain's armband in the first place but his latest comments suggest that the Blues star will be reinstalled as leader of the Three Lions, starting with the Euro2012 qualifier against Wales in Cardiff on March 26.

"I think after one year of punishment that is enough for a mistake," Capello said.

"It does not need to be captain for one game, it needs to be permanent. Before I announce a decision I want to speak with Terry, with the players, but in the end it will be my decision.

"Rio was captain, but my first captain was John Terry. Rio was a good captain, so was Steve Gerrard, but I selected Terry first until his mistake.

"John Terry is old enough to understand this is a really important role."
