Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand feels the Serbian Football Association have gotten off lightly for their U21 players involvement in a brawl in October.
A post-match scuffle broke out between Serbian and English U21players which was sparked by racism, prompting UEFA to investigate the situation.
Serbian coaches Andreja Milunovic and Predrag Katic have been banned from all football related activities for two years for their part in the incident, whilst four Serbian players have been given short-term suspensions along with a £66,000 fine for the Serbian FA.
But Ferdinand feels that is simply not good enough as he feels a harsher penalty will go a long way to stopping racist acts.
"Uefa are not serious at all on racism. Fines do not work at all. They have zero impact on federations/clubs/fans/players. #fact," he posted on Twitter.
He added: "Uefa need to talk to this generation.....they don't seem to be up to date on this issue?? Harsh punishments needed as a deterrent #simple."
