Argentina have exacted revenge on Germany by defeating the World Cup champions 4-2 in a friendly on Wednesday night.
Tata Martino's first game in charge of La Biancocelesti resulted in a comfortable victory over Joachim Low's Die Mannschaft at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf following their 1-0 World Cup final triumph in Rio de Janeiro in July.
Manchester United's £59.7million signing Angel Di Maria ran riot for Argentina, providing three assists and scoring a goal, before Germany netted twice to make the scoreline somewhat respectable.
Di Maria set up Manchester City's Sergio Aguero to tap home for the opening goal on 20 minutes before providing Erik Lamela with a floating ball for the revitalised Tottenham midfielder to calmly volley past Manuel Neuer with five minutes remaining in the first half.
The barrage from the Argentine side did not stop and two minutes into the second half they were three goals to the good when Swansea City signing Federico Fernandez headed home Di Maria's free-kick past substitute keeper Roman Weidenfeller.
And the former Real Madrid ace wasn't done there, scoring a goal of his own with a deft chip over Weidenfeller, after advancing down the right.
Germany managed to pull one back through Chelsea's Andre Schurrle in the 52nd minute who hit the back of the net from a rebound after his initial effort from a corner was blocked before World Cup hero Mario Gotze saw his attempt deflect in off Fernandez in the 78th minute.
However, the damage had already been done by Di Maria who will have Man Utd supporters jumping for joy following a difficult beginning to the 2014/15 season.
