Manchester United will challenge Manchester City for Bodo/Glimt winger Hakon Evjen.
The Daily Mail says United and City have joined the race to sign Evjen and want to complete the deal when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Anderlecht and AZ Alkmaar are also known to be interested in Evjen, who is yet to receive a senior cap for the Norwegian national team.
He has scored nine goals in 19 Eliteserien — Norway's top flight — games so far this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent scouts to watch the United fan face Stromgodset last month, where he scored two goals in a 3-1 win.
