Man Utd press on with new contract planned for Solskjaer

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is due an improved despite their Europa League final defeat to Villarreal.

The result ensures that Solskjaer's wait for a first trophy as United boss continues.

But the Norwegian will still see a new £9million-a-year contract rubber-stamped - a £2million-a-year rise on his current deal, says the Mirror.

Outgoing vice-chairman Ed Woodward is already committed to extending his stay at Old Trafford.

Woodward and United's American owners, the Glazer family, have been impressed with the progress United have made under Solskjaer.

The Europa League defeat, by the tightest of margins, will not have changed their thinking.
