Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar says the players are "positive" about their league position as they fly to Japan for the Club World Championship.

"Ideally we would have a few more points than we have at the moment but other teams are dropping them as well, which is a positive sign," Van der Sar said.

"There has been a lot of talk about the difficult away games we have had but we are still in touch and hopefully that will still be the case when we get back.

"We will be two games behind by then but we knew that from the start of the season, so we will just get on with it."
