Manchester United No2 Mike Phelan hopes there isn't a witch hunt against Wayne Rooney.
Rooney was caught on camera appearing to elbow Wigan Athletic's James McCarthy on Saturday.
"I don't know whether there should be a witch hunt," Phelan said. "The referee saw what he saw and he kept the game rolling.
"We can't dispute a referee's decision. He is out there on the field to take charge of the situation."
