Manchester United are set to really feel the pinch from Tuesday night's shock Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven.
20-year-old left-back Luke Shaw was stretchered off the Philips Stadion pitch with a double fracture of his right leg which forced the match to be stopped for 10 minutes as he was treated.
The incident occurred 15 minutes into the Group B opener which United lost 2-1 despite leading late in the first half after former PSV star Memphis Depay had put the visitors ahead.
Shaw's injury came about when he made a run into the area only for PSV's Hector Moreno to catch his standing leg as he attempted to go past him.
After the match, Shaw posted a message on Twitter after it was confirmed he had suffered a serious injury.
Thank you everyone for your messages , words can't describe how gutted I am , my road to recovery starts now, I will come back stronger.
