Man Utd matchwinner Rashford: I overslept!

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford laughed off his benching for victory at Wolves.

Rashford explained that he overslept for a team meeting, which was the reason he was dropped by boss Erik ten Hag for the 1-0 win away to Wolves on Saturday. The England man came off the bench at half-time to score the only goal of the game, to seal all three points for the Red Devils.

"I was a little bit late. I slept in, I overslept," Rashford told BT Sport with a smile on his face. "It's the team rules. It's a mistake that can happen. Obviously disappointed not to play but I understand the decision."

Ten Hag admitted that Rashford's reaction is exactly what he wanted to see, and considers the matter over.

"I think it happened often but it's good," Ten Hag explained. "After the decision, coming on he was bright, lively, scored a goal that is the right reaction. Of course [it is the end of the matter] but everyone has to match rules and values, if you work like this, it's the right answer."
