Palermo ace Javier Pastore is under consideration by Manchester United and Manchester City.
Both Premier League giants see Pastore in a wide role and as an alternative to Alexis Sanchez.
The Manchester Evening News says City and United look to have been beaten to their No.1 summer target, Udinese's Sanchez, by Barcelona.
That leaves the Reds and Blues scouring for potential alternatives and Palermo's Pastore is also on the radar of both clubs, although the £44m valuation the Italians have placed on the 21-year-old Argentine could be a stumbling block.
