Manchester United are making a late bid to hijack Manchester City's plans to sign VfL Wolfsburg winger Kevin de Bruyne.
United are looking to take advantage of City's failure to get a deal over the line.
Sport 1 says United have entered the "poker game" for the Belgian's signature.
Their chief sports reporter, Christian Ortlepp, confirmed the news via Twitter and believes Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal's attentions have been turned after losing out on Spain star Pedro to Chelsea.
