Manchester United failed with a deadline day bid for Birmingham City attacker Jude Bellingham.

ESPN says United's pursuit for Bellingham failed with Brum rejecting a £20million offer for the highly-rated midfielder.

The Red Devils' bid was rebuffed due to the structure of the deal and an agreement is now unlikely to be reached before the 11pm deadline for Friday's January transfer window.

United's £20m offer reportedly consists of an £8.5m fee up front - with the rest coming via numerous add-ons.

However, it's claimed that Birmingham want more than that for the 16-year-old who has shone in the Championship to date - in what his debut campaign as a professional footballer.
