Man Utd keeper Heaton discusses early Onana impact

Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton has lavished praise on recent arrival Andre Onana.

The Cameroonian is a big money summer signing from Inter Milan, replacing David De Gea as the club's no1.

While Heaton has received his fair share of action in preseason, the veteran knows he will be behind Onana in the pecking order as the season begins.

“It's been great, actually. He's a real good lad, a real great character," Heaton told MUTV.

“I've really enjoyed the style of his play. I think he'll suit this manager and how he wants to play really well.

“Hopefully I can learn a bit from him. I know I'm getting older, but I'm always trying to develop and evolve. Hopefully I can offer him something about Premier League football and the requirements and the different challenges.

“He and I have got on really well so far and, as I say, I'm looking forward to working with him, competing with him and then we'll see where it goes."
