Man Utd keeper Foster doesn't expect Capello favours

Manchester United's fit-again goalkeeper Ben Foster doesn't expect to be fast-tracked back into the England squad by new coach Fabio Capello.

"David James has come back in and I think he's there on merit," said Foster. "I know he was overlooked under Steve McClaren but if you are picking on form, then you have got to say he's at the top of his game. He's definitely the stand-out keeper.

"I read that Fabio Capello has watched a video of the game against Spain and I was pleased about that. I think he's shown already that he's not going to be looking at who people play for or who they are.

"I think he's going to do it on merit. I can't expect to be in the team just because I play for Manchester United. I've got to prove it, week in, week out and be as consistent as I can be.

"That's the aim. I'm with one of the biggest clubs in the world and if you can't aim to be the best at Manchester United, where can you?"
