Man Utd keeper De Gea suffers worst World Cup stats in 52 years

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea set a modern day World Cup record low for saves in the tournament.

Spain were eliminated by Russia in the round of 16 on Sunday.

De Gea has not been at the level that has seen him become the number one choice for Spain, having not conceded in just one game at the World Cup with just one save from seven shots on goal.

It means that he is the goalkeeper that has made fewest saves from at least three games since 1966.

Against Russia the goal that he conceded came from the penalty spot and in the shoot-out he was close to saving two of the three strikes but failed.
