Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam had a say in Steve McClaren's appointment as new FC Twente coach.
And Twente fans are also convinced the former England boss is not a wally with a brolly.
Supporters' Association chairman Coen Mollink insisted: "McClaren could only work with the quality of player he has.
"It is a great signing for the club. The chairman researched this thoroughly and spoke to Boudewijn Zenden, who knew him from Middlesbrough, and Jaap Stam from United.
"They were both very positive and that says enough."
McClaren, who penned a two-year deal with the Dutch side, said: "I'll do everything I can to bring good times to the club."
