Manchester United great Ryan Giggs says Sir Alex Ferguson chose to sell David Beckham because they were always "arguing".
Several key figures were allowed to depart Old Trafford during Fergie's time in charge, but arguably none as high-profile as Beckham, who left for Real Madrid in 2003.
Asked about Fergie's penchant for letting big players go, Wales coach Giggs told beIN Sports' The Champions Club: "I think the majority of the time it was for football reasons.
"It was to get someone in or the player maybe losing that influence. Or it was just the time.
"The likes of David Beckham it was getting too much, where he was arguing every other week really and it was just time for both parties to move and that happened on a few occasions."
