Manchester United hero Dwight Yorke says they need to strengthen their defence this summer.
United's lone signing this summer has been former PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay.
Yorke told Sky Sports: "We have struggled defensively all season.
“Going forward we had Angel Di Maria, Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, [Radamel] Falcao - but they haven't been able to deliver the devastating blow we know they are capable of doing.
“That may be a point where he may need to make some changes with another forward player.
“And when Michael Carrick is not playing we see how thin Manchester United look - Van Gaal needs to look at a holding midfielder."
