Man Utd hero Giggs stands aside as Wales manager amid police investigation

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is standing aside as Wales manager for the time being.

Giggs is involved in a police case, as he is suspected of having committed two counts of assault against his girlfriend and another person.

The incident goes back to November, when Giggs was arrested on suspicion of assault.

The 47-year-old is set to go on trial, and will not be Wales boss until the matter is resolved.

A statement read: "The Football Association of Wales (FAW) and Ryan Giggs have mutually agreed that he will not be involved in the upcoming international camp.

"Robert Page will take charge for the next three matches against Belgium, Mexico and the Czech Republic and will be supported by Albert Stuivenberg as was the case during the last international window in November.

"The Cymru squad for these upcoming matches will be announced on Monday 15th March."
