Manchester United hero Patrice Evra has urged the board to support manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the market.

Evra also called on fans to give Jose Mourinho credit for his achievements with the club.

“People have to support Ole," Evra told Sky Sports. “I said from day one, what a person, people think he's just smiling, a nice guy. But I spoke with Ole after a few games and he was so angry but I understand that, Ole needs support and love. I see people start to criticise Ole now, but come on, we've come from far.

“Ole brought hope after the departure of Mourinho. We hoped to qualify for the Champions League but I remember when Jose was there, people were saying no chance, even Jose.

“I've got a lot of respect for Jose. With Jose it was about playing good football or winning trophies. He won the Carabao Cup. he finished second with this team. We need to give him credit for that.

“Ole's got a big job and a responsibility, I hope the board will be behind him, even if it takes, three, four, five years."
