Man Utd favourites for Celtic pair Dembele, Tierney as Rodgers says: Kieran equal to Rose, Bertrand

Manchester United are regarded as favourites to sign Celtic pair Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney.

United had scouts at Parkhead last night to watch the pair in defeat to Champions League opponents Bayern Munich.

The Mirror says no fewer than 17 Premier League clubs were all represented in the crowd for the game, but United are regarded as being in pole position.

Both players could cost a combined fee of over £50 million, if United look to compete for both.

Tierney penned new terms last week, though some inside the Scottish believe it was a decision made with the view to maximise his selling price.

Last night, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers said: “Kieran Tierney was up against Arjen Robben and he was outstanding again.

“I had Danny Rose as a young player at Watford and I worked with Ryan Bertrand at Chelsea.

“And Kieran is right up there with those boys.

“He is still very young and those boys are into their latter twenties. He still has bits of improvements to make but his quality, his will, his determination and his focus for a young player is outstanding and he loves playing for Celtic.

“And nights like that, you can see why he wanted to sign here.

“A real special talent but a boy who is focused in improvement."
