Manchester United are set to offer £3 million for Crewe Alexandra attacker Nick Powell.

The Daily Star says United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been keeping close tabs on the attacking midfielder all season and is confident of luring him to Old Trafford.

Fergie's chief scout and brother Martin Ferguson watched Powell score a Wembley wonder goal on Sunday to help fire Crewe to promotion to League One.

Powell, who has scored 16 goals this season, will agree a four-year deal worth around £20,000 a week.
