Man Utd defender Wootton determined to prove class at Forest

Manchester United defender Scott Wootton hopes to prove his quality at Nottingham Forest.

David Beckham famously impressed at Preston in 1995, while Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley have also benefited from temporary spells away from the spotlight of Old Trafford.

The defender - who has previously been on loan at Tranmere and Peterborough - said: "If I can do well here, it will stand me in good stead.

"Look at the players who have been out from United in the past, who have gone on to do good things.

"If the likes of David Beckham and Danny Welbeck can go out on loan to learn their trade a little bit, it is not going to harm me, is it?

"Hopefully I can play some matches and be better for the experience I can pick up here. I have another year on my contract after this season with United, so it's a big year for me.

"Hopefully we can turn things around for Forest as well."
