Man Utd defender Smalling: What Mourinho said at halftime...

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling insists manager Jose Mourinho was calm at halftime of their victory at Crystal Palace.

United were 2-0 down at Crystal Palace but bounced back to win 3-2, with Nemanja Matic bagging the winner with an added-time rocket.

Smalling said, “There wasn't any ranting and raving, but there was a degree where we walked in and already knew we weren't playing well enough, needed to increase it, and conceded so early as well (in the second half). It was a sloppy goal. We had everything in front of us to do, and we did it.

“It shows that no matter how bad we might be playing in that first half, that we can go after teams."

Smalling also tipped Palace to stay up under Roy Hodgson, who he played under at Fulham.

“It's always nice to see him," he said. “He's done a terrific job with Palace - they were dead and buried before he came.

"If they play like that they'll have more than enough (to survive)."
