Manchester United defender Luke Shaw was stunned by the atmosphere for their 2-1 win against Manchester City.

The 27-year-old was once again preferred to Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof as Raphael Varane's partner in central defence, with the duo successfully limiting City star Erling Haaland's influence on the game.

Speaking with club media following the come-from-behind victory, Shaw claimed the Old Trafford was the best he had witnessed since joining the club from Southampton in 2014.

Shaw said, "'It's incredible, for me, I've been here a long time now, I think eight years. For me, today, the atmosphere was the best I've been involved in.

"It shows the fans are with us, they're pushing us in the right direction, and I hope they really enjoyed it today.

"We love the atmosphere; we love them being there and we are glad to be making them happy again."
