Man Utd defender Jones: Europa will define season for Mourinho

Manchester United's season rests on success in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, according to Phil Jones.

The injury plagued defender, who has appeared 26 times in all competitions for United this season, has returned to form and fitness recently and is due to get the nod ahead of Chris Smalling for the clash with Ajax.

Victory in Stockholm will guarantee United qualification for next season's Champions League.

When asked if Wednesday's result would define his manager Jose Mourinho's first season at Old Trafford, Jones answered via The Express: "In a nutshell, probably.

"It's a defining moment in our season and we need to make sure we win the game. We want Champions League football, it's what we have to do to win the game.

"We've no god given right to win the Europa League. We deserve to be there. We deserve to be in the final, but we have to show up and prove we are good enough and that's what we will do.

"We have a huge game that we need to prepare for in the right way and go out and do a job. We have to win."
