Man Utd defender Ferdinand won't pursue charges for Man City coin tosser

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has decided not to pursue action against the coin thrower who struck him at Manchester City earlier this season.

The Manchester Evening News says Ferdinand has told police he does not want to press charges against the fan who threw a coin at him during a heated Manchester derby.

The Manchester United defender, 34, was struck by a two-pence piece last month.

Blood was seen streaming from the cut as United won 3-2 at the Eithad Stadium thanks to Robin van Persie's late winner.

Police began an investigation into the incident but having contacted United, were told Ferdinand did not wish to pursue a complaint.
