Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand wants the Community Shield dumped.
The traditional season curtain-raiser - between the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners - raises money for charities nominated by both clubs.
But Manchester United defender Ferdinand, whose side face arch-rivals Manchester City at Wembley next month, is in the US on tour and got the idea after watching a baseball game featuring the league's greats.
And that has convinced the England international that the idea could jazz up the start of the domestic football season.
He tweeted: "Baseball All-Star game tonight, TV coverage is quality. We need a PL All-Star game too - the powers that be let's talk and develop this.
"Replace the Community Shield with Premier League All-Star team?"
