Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is full of praise for Javier Hernandez after his matchwinning goal against Newcastle United. Ferdinand was quick to commend his diminutive teammate after the final whistle, explaining why defenders are content to play behind strikers of such quality and diligence.

"You don't mind your forwards missing chances when they are always getting in there, making space and getting the chances," Rio told MUTV.

"He doesn't let his head go down when he misses an opportunity.

"He always has the will and desire to get in there in the first place. You get your rewards for that persistence, and he got his."
