Manchester United defender Jonny Evans says David de Gea just needed some confidence to prove his ability.

De Gea's performance at Norwich City follows praise from his team-mate Jonny Evans, who spoke of the Spaniard's ability on the pitch and growing presence off it.

"From day one, David's shot stopping has been unbelievable," said the Northern Ireland international to "He pulls off saves that you can't believe. He just needs a bit of confidence and he seems to be getting that.

"David's presence is building and it is all coming together for him. The language barrier is being broken down and he is coming out of his shell a bit. He is a really good lad. He is starting to make a few jokes. He is not afraid to get involved with the lads and have a chat, which is good. That is settling him down."
