Man Utd coach Solskjaer confirms van de Beek, Dalot could start against Preston

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskaer is optimistic about the fitness of right back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Donny Van de Beek.

The duo were not in the starting lineup as United drew 2-2 against Brentford in a friendly at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Despite the new season fast approaching, United are still without several key first-teamers due to injuries and late arrivals to pre-season training, as a result of Euro 2020 and Copa America commitments.

Asked about Dalot and Van de Beek specifically, Solskjaer told the club website: "It might be too soon [for the recently-returned players], maybe one or two sub appearances.

"Maybe we can start Diogo and Donny [against Preston on Saturday] as I said before the game, so let's see how the other boys who have come back feel on Friday night, Saturday morning."
