Man Utd coach McCarthy targets step up

Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy admits he wants to become a head coach one day.

The South African former striker, who played for the likes of FC Porto, is one of Erik ten Hag's assistants at present.

While McCarthy is enjoying his work at United, which involves helping the forward line, he wants a crack at a top job.

He told YOU Magazine: “With the knowledge I've gained and everything I've contributed to the team – I want to take that and then eventually become a manager.

“Because once you've sat in the hot seat at a club and you've experienced the adrenaline of decision-making and leading, you want to experience that again one day."

Striker Marcus Rashford said about McCarthy months ago: "He's definitely helped me a lot. To have attack-minded coaches is good for us. He's always there speaking to us about these things."
