Manchester United chief scout Martin Ferguson was in Italy on the weekend.TMW says Ferguson was in stands to see Sampdoria's clash with Chievo to check on Samp star Mauro Icardi.
The former Barcelona junior has been a revelation for Samp this season and Chelsea also had scouts posted to run the rule over him.
Despite their denials, Samp are prepared to cash in on Icardi in the summer.
