Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has refused the prospect of David de Gea earning a new deal.

De Gea was in inspired form against Liverpool, producing a string of stunning saves to win the man-of-the-match award.

Van Gaal was questioned on the contract talks after the game but refused to discuss any details of a possible deal.

He said: "That is between the club and the player and it is not open for discussion for the media."
