Man Utd boss Solskjaer pleased with cameo for 'top lad' van de Beek: He'll get minutes (last set)
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy with the effort of fringe midfielder Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman has struggled to play regularly for United since arriving from Ajax last summer.
He got on the field for the last minutes of the 4-1 win over Newcastle United, playing a role in Jesse Lingard's fourth goal.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer spoke positively about the teamwork for the goal and singled out van de Beek for praise.
"I think the last goal was a brilliant example of Cristiano going to the back stick and opening up that space for Anthony [Martial] and Jesse to combine in the middle," said Solskjaer, per the club website.
"They came on and did really well in the build-up.
"I'm really pleased for everyone who came on. Donny [van de Beek] had his first taste of minutes with a crowd – what Man United [really] feels like. He keeps working hard, he's such a professional and top lad and he'll get his minutes. Let's see what happens on Tuesday."
