Man Utd boss Ferguson: We will still spend on mature players

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed they're unlikely to splash out on a player older than 27 years of age.

Ferguson defended the club's transfer policy this morning following yesterday's deal for Chivas youngster Javier Hernandez.

"Occasionally we do go into the transfer market for mature players," insisted Ferguson. "[Dimitar] Berbatov was 27 when he came to us but you have to ask yourself if when a 27-year-old fulfils his contract for five years he will have little resale value."
